15th - 17th July - Company Camp, Bradley Wood, West Yorkshire
The Lads had a fantastic time at Bradley Wood. Activities included - Low ropes, Cresta run, Archery and air rifle shooting. 2010 is 125 years since the first BB camp organised by the 1st Glasgow Company in 1886. All the members who attended camp this year were awarded with a special badge which they can wear on their armband. Photo shows James and Matt on the Archery range.

 

12th May 2010 - Congratulations to James Williams who has attended the BB - Building your skills course. This is an important step in gaining the President's Badge.

11th April 2011 - Open Night - Special Guest - SC Sid Gill
We had a good turnout for our Display night where the Boys were presented with the badges they gained during the year. Our special guest was Sid Gill from Derbyshire Police who has looked after us on our Parades for many years. The photo shows a scene from a sketch by the Anchors and Juniors.

 

14th October 2010 - Battalion Presentation Evening
Andrew Williams represented the Company at this event to celebrate the achievements of the Battalion in the past year. Andrew was one of six Boys at the ceremony who had been awarded the Queen's Badge. He was also formally presented with the Company Section Quiz trophy. 20th July 2010 - Jack goes to Royal Garden Party! - One of our Senior Boys Jack Murdy was invited to represent Manchester Battalion as a steward at Buckingham Palace. He was one of four Boys who went from the North West and he was also lucky enough to be spoken to by the Queen. Photo shows Jack and the other Lads from the North West at the Palace.

 

29th May - 5th June 2010 - Company Camp, Bramhope, West Yorkshire - We had a great week in Yorkshire and the Lads did lots of activities including air rifle shooting, archery, gladiators and we went on trips to the Royal Armouries in Leeds and also went down a coal mine (see below).

16th May 2010 - Top awards for our Boys! - Staff Sergeant Jack Murdy (18) and Sergeant Andrew Williams (16) were presented with the Queen's Badge at a Ceremony in Southport along with 33 other Brigade Boys from around the North-west. The awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside Dame Lorna Fairburn DBE. Photo shows Jack and Andrew with the Captain.

 

22nd March 2010 - Open Night - We had a brilliant turnout for our display night, the special guest was Michael Guy who is a Boys' Brigade Vice President in the Manchester Battalion. Michael also presented the Boys with their awards. The annual Best Boy awards went to - James Williams (Company), Jack Williams (Juniors), Fred Lea (Anchors) and Ben Mycock (Band).

 

15th February 2010 - Well done to our Senior Section hockey team who came third in the Manchester Battalion UNIHOC finals held in Didsbury.

27th January 2010 - Congratulations once again to our Senior Section Quiz team. For the third year running we have beaten all comers from around Manchester to win the Battalion Quiz Trophy. Around 100 Lads from BB Companies took part at the event at Hope High School in Salford. The photo shows Phil, Andy, Jack and Ryan receiving the cup from Chris Carney of the 53rd Manchester Company.

2nd October 2009 - Congratulations to our Company President – Graham Harper, who was married last Friday to Jennifer O’Dwyer. It was a lovely day apart from the weather and Mr and Mrs Harper enjoyed themselves. Graham even wore his kilt for the occasion! We wish them every happiness for the future.

28th January 2009 - Well done to the Comnpany & Senior Section Quiz team who for the second year running have won the Manchester Boys' Brigade Quiz night. Well done to Phil, Andy, Ryan and James. The picture below shows them receiving the cup from 'Quizmaster' Jim Smith.

January 2009 - Well done to Andrew Williams and Jack Harrison in the Senior Section who completed their Queens’ Badge Leadership course over the weekend. Also well done to Ryan Farlam and Jamie Morrison who have completed their Presidents’ Badges that will be presented at Open Night. We now have six Boys working towards their Queens’ Badge – the highest award in the Boys’ Brigade!

4th October 2008 - Andrew goes to 125th Birthday Celebrations in Glasgow

July 11-13th 2008 – Chapel Lads go to 125th Birthday camp.
Two Boys from 1st Chapel Company attended the BB 125th Birthday Camp at the YMCA Lakeside Centre in the Lake District. Lance Corporals Jamie Morrison and Ryan Farlam joined over 150 Boys who attended the camp from all round the Manchester Area. Activities over the weekend included Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, Half day project, Low ropes course, Climbing, Abseiling and Zip-wire. The weekend was a great success with everyone making new friends and enjoying themselves.
