Welcome
to the website of the 1st Chapel en le Frith Company of the Boys’
Brigade.
The
Company was founded in 1926 by Mr Harry Minshull, and the Boys' Brigade
as a whole was founded in 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith. In
2008 the BB celebrated 125 years of working with young people.
Who
are the 1st Chapel?
The
1st Chapel is based at Chapel en le Frith Methodist Church, which
is on Market St in the Town End part of Chapel en le Frith. The Officer
in Charge of the Company is Capt. Peter Goddard and the Company President
is Mr Graham Harper.
Members
not only come from Chapel, we have had members from as far away as
Buxton and Disley. Everyone is welcome!
The 1st Chapel is a part of the Manchester Battalion, which contains
a total of 20 Companies. The Battalion is also a part of the North
West District, which has over 100 Companies within the area it operates
in. The Company takes part in many competitions at Battalion and District
level, and a comprehensive history of the Company can be found in
the history section.
When
does the Company meet?
All sections of the Company meet on a Monday night in the Church hall,
and the meeting times are as follows:
Anchor
Boys (5 to 8 years old): 6:00pm to 7:15pm
Junior Section (8 to 11 years old): 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Company/Senior Sections (11 to 18 years old): 7:30pm to 9:30pm
